Ameless Alexander (pronounced Am-mel-liss) was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in the DMV in a Caribbean household where faith, folklore, and storytelling were a treasured part of family life.
Some of his favorite childhood memories were spent listening to his mother share stories with him and his siblings—stories about the Lord, Caribbean folklore, and the mysteries she remembered from back home. But the stories that captured his imagination most were the tales of mermaids said to inhabit the waters and countryside of Jamaica.
Those stories stayed with him.
From an early age, Ameless possessed an expansive imagination and a mind filled with wonder. His fascination soon grew beyond mermaids into a lifelong love of mythology, folklore, and mythical beings from cultures around the world. Gods and celestial beings, merfolk and fae, legendary creatures and ancient mysteries all fascinated him—not simply as fantasy, but as echoes of humanity's enduring desire to understand what might exist beyond the world we know.
He grew up believing in his heart that humanity could never be the only mystery within this vast creation—and that perhaps some of the stories passed from one generation to another carried more truth than we realized.
That sense of wonder eventually became The Mermaid Fountain.
Years in the making, The Mermaid Fountain blends faith, fantasy, folklore, mythology, and imagination into an expanding universe filled with ancient waters, forgotten histories, extraordinary beings, and mysteries waiting to be uncovered.
With The Mermaid Fountain: Volume One — The First Waters, Ameless Alexander is finally preparing to invite the world into a universe that has lived within his imagination for years.
The question is… do you dare to enter?
